New Blog Series "Vendor Profile"

Hello Everyone!!!

The North City Farmers’ Market has been going strong for thirteen weeks now and we are excited for the time remaining! For much of the summer we have enjoyed great musical acts and increasing new customers to the market. We hope to continue this success in September and October.  In addition to changing seasons, we are excited to unveil a new series on our blog site titled “Vendor Profile.”

“Vendor Profile” will be a series of blog posts that specifically describes and informs readers about our wonderful vendors at North City Farmers’ Market. A huge part of our success at the market is due to loyal vendors who contribute to our mission of improving community health in Old North. We hope “Vendor Profile” can provide insightful information about some of the popular merchants while also attracting new customers to the market!

Tomato or Tomatoe?

Hi everyone!

Our kids had a blast this week with our free summer kids' activities! On Wednesday, we partnered up with the Northside Workshop for a fun and easy arts and craft activity. We made planters out of recycled materials. On top of that each child was given a free admission pass to the St. Louis Magic House! What a great way to end the day! I encourage you if you have not already to bring your children out to the festivities! Our last week of activities will be next week.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the office (314) 241-5031
On to the tasty things...We've been seeing a lot of red at the market lately. I wonder if anyone knows what I'm talking about. You guessed right. Tomatoes! Yummy. I remember when my grandma would slice me up some fresh tomatoes and sprinkle it with a dash of salt and pepper. I loved it! Then, as I got older and realized that they came in the size of grapes, Oh boy!!

What's Cookin' With Jazmin?--Take 2

Greetings everyone!

Hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July holiday! I know I did. I went downtown and watched the fireworks with some friends and pigged out on some tasty barbecue. :-)
The 13th Street Market list of produce keeps getting longer and longer each week! I am happy to say that one of my favorite "fruit snacks" will be featured in this week's market...are you ready?
PLUMS!

When I was a little girl, I used to help my grandmother plant in her garden. She had a host of fruits and vegetables! I remember them being so delicious, and her plums were the tastiest. I remember the plum juice running down the side of my face as the sweet and bitter taste tingled on my tongue. They were so amazing! Come out to the North City Farmers' Market this Saturday to grab these jewels! Has there ever been a time when you took a whiff of something or seen something that immediately brought you back to one of your favorite memories? Remember that the best memories are made from the things you least expect.

What's Cookin' With Jazmin?--Take 1

Hey everyone! My name is Jazmin Richardson. I am the new summer intern with Old North St. Louis Restoration Group. I am studying Nursing at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and will be serving as an  intern with Old North St. Louis Restoration Group for the duration of the summer. My goal this summer is to provide you all with some great nutritious  recipes that can be paired with the produce sold weekly at North City's Farmers Market. I also will be providing healthy living strategies as well.
A few fun facts about me:
  • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Golden Girls! It's my favorite show! My favorite character is Sophia because she reminds me so much of my own grandmother.
  • I'm absolutely in love with Blue Bell Homemade Icecream. It's not sold in St. Louis, so unfortunately me and it will be departed for a while. :-(
  • I once cut my toe running from a fly and had to get 28 stitches. Yikes, I know.

I am looking forward to blogging this summer, hopefully I get to know some of you as well :)

Kick your summer off with a bang by dressing your salad with this seasons' favorite and trending berry! Scroll down and check out the recipe that I know you'll love to try!
